Historical Events -  November 2

1834 : On this day a ship named Atlas reached Mauritius with Indian laborers. They celebrated as Indian arrival day.

1914 : Russia declared war on the Ottoman Empire.

1936 : The British Broadcasting Corporation launched the BBC television service.

1936 : The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation was formed.

1940 : In World War II, War started between Greece and Italy.

1951 : About 6 thousand British soldiers arrived in Egypt to overcome the demonstrations against Britain. Apart from this, a large number of soldiers were on their way to Egypt.

1953 : The Assembly of Pakistan renamed the country the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

1986 : David Jacobson, an American citizen held hostage through Islamic extremists in Beirut, was released.

1988 : In the general elections held in Israel, no party could get a clear majority and there was only one seat difference between the two major parties.
