Smart pre-paid energy meters will be installed in different parts of Odisha, informed Speaker SN Patro following a crucial meeting of the Assembly Standing Committee of Energy Department on Tuesday. As per reports, the consumers will get pre-paid cards to re-charge their electricity meter, like they do for mobile phone service, after exhausting the consumption limits for the paid amount.

The State Panchayati Raj department has issued a directive to the administrative heads of all districts to accelerate the preparations for the elections on a priority basis. Collectors in the districts have been asked to complete the reservation of seats as per the PRI/Act Rules and send the final list to the State Election Commission by October 30.

The Odisha government on Tuesday ordered compulsory retirement of four officers including two Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers, one Sub-Registrar and a former Chief Veterinary Officer. The terminated OAS officers have been identified as Deputy Collector of Angul Janakinath Mishra and Nuagarh Tehsildar Akula Mallick.
