- India on Saturday reported 1,73,790 fresh Covid-19 cases while 3,617 patients succumbed to the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry said. India’s overall tally of Covid-19 cases now stands at 2,77,29,247 with 22,28,724 active cases, and 3,22,512 deaths, so far.
- Odisha registered 7,188 fresh COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours taking tally to 7,47,143, informed the State Information & Public Relation Department today. Of fresh cases, 4026 were reported from different quarantine centres and 3162 were local contacts.
- Veteran journalist Basant Das is no more. He lost his battle to COVID-19 today. The senior journalist was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. He passed away in the morning. He was 81.
- All State Public Universities and Degree Colleges coming under the Higher Education Department of the Odisha Government shall resume functioning from June 1.The State Government has written to the vice chancellors of the universities and the principals of the colleges in this regard.

- Taxpayers can now file their tax returns for income earned during the financial year 2020-21 by September 30. The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has also extended the ITR filing deadline for companies to November 30
